The Food We Find

I married the dearest man in the world on June 1st, 2018. At that time he was about to begin his second year of seminary. So from the beginning of our marriage, I had the great pleasure of making our meals from only the food we would find at the Seminary's wonderful food co-op, sometimes with the assistance of some sale grocery items from Walmart or fresh finds from the local farmer's market.
In the summer of 2019, we had our sweet little baby girl, Elsie Grace. Then three weeks later (yes, three weeks) we packed up and moved to Illinois for my husband's year of the vicarage at the wonderful church of St. John, Wheaton. Here the food we find is not from the Seminary's co-op, but from local groceries, French Market, and gifts from parish members such as vegetables from their own gardens, butcher's meat, and leftovers from church gatherings. This year, 2020, we (like everyone else) have had to be especially creative with the food we find during the COVID-19 panic shopping that's been going on.
We have another move approaching us this summer as Dylan was blessed to receive the opportunity of studying for one year in Oberursel, Germany as part of a German exchange program between Fort Wayne, Seminary, and Oberursal's Seminary (Lutherische Theologische Hochschule).  We are beyond excited for this new adventure! And I cannot wait to learn to cook with the food we find in Deutschland!

Whether it's a gift, a sale item, a Farmer's Market find, grown from our own garden, or street fair in Europe, wherever we live it is always a joy to get creative with whatever food finds us and together celebrate the gifts of God He gives through the people and places of our lives.

This blog is partially for my own self-serving purpose of organizing the recipes I have tweaked and found worth repeating. It is also to allow easy access to my dear friends who are kind enough to often ask for my recipes. The occasional craft may find it's way into my posts as well. I hope it will also serve as a way to keep friends updated with our adventures and the food we find on the way!
